How Are We Really Doing?
Updated: Aug 22

The semester is winding down. Exams are looming—or finally behind us. Assignments are being submitted, practicals are wrapping up, and somewhere between the last lecture and the last deadline, we're all starting to realise: we made it through another academic year.
But how are we actually doing?
Maybe you're feeling proud of how far you've come. Maybe you're exhausted and counting down the days until you can sleep without an alarm. Maybe you're somewhere in between; relieved that it's almost over, but already thinking about everything next semester will bring.
And maybe, despite what everyone's Instagram stories might suggest, you're not feeling particularly okay right now.
That's the thing about vet school: we're all going through the same academic year, but we're not necessarily experiencing it the same way.
Some of us had breakthroughs. Some had setbacks. Some passed exams we were sure we'd fail. Some are waiting nervously for results. Some discovered a new passion. Others are still wondering if they chose the right career. Some are celebrating making it through another year, while others are simply celebrating making it through the week.
All of those feelings can exist at the same time.
So, before we close the chapter on this academic year, we want to know:
🩺How are you really doing?
I'm actually proud of myself.
Just let me rest!!!
Ask me later.
We made it!
And now, tell us more.
What is one word that describes your academic year?
Or finish this sentence:
"This year taught me __________."
Your answer doesn't have to be inspirational. It doesn't have to be funny. It doesn't even have to make sense yet.
Just be honest.
Because sometimes it helps to know that the person sitting next to you, the person ahead of you, and even the person who always seems to have everything together might be feeling the same way.
Whatever your answer is, you're probably not the only one. 🐾
